Ambiente is a high class brandy, based on our own fine alcohol which is produced from wheat and malt and without any chemical addings. This Krugmann-spirit then is stored in small oak barrels and after 5 years our master distiller refines it with some very special ingredients according to the secret recipe.
Originally, Ambiente was meant to be a Schnaps for the celebration of the 125. year of our well established family business in 1992.
For this reason we had decided to create a very special product. So during the 80s already we bought oak barrels which had been used for many years to store Cognac. Into these we filled our own spirit which had been stored in our regular oak barrels for some time already. After two year storing in the former Cognac barrels we realized during some legendary tasting sessions that something really special ripened here. So also in our heads ripened something, namely the thought that it might be an even better idea to create something more than “just a jubilee spirit”.
So we waited… and waited… and waited, and tasted… and tasted… and tasted…..until after another 3 years we were absolutely sure “this is it”. The 125. year had long since passed, by the way….
This is the background for the development of Ambiente. The creation of the final product, the branding, labelling etc took another 2 years.
The word Ambiente = ambience is used to describe a situation or surrounding which is extremely pleasing for mind, body and soul just what we felt during our tasting sessions. So we decided to name our product accordingly, not only because it should be consumed in an appropriate ambience it does not necessarily have to be an old oak barrel cellar - , but also because it enriches the athmosphere. And that goes for both the outside and inside of those who drink this unique brandy.
The name and the shape of the bottle is protected by patent law for Krugmann.
Ambiente is enjoyed best at a drinking temperature of 17-19 celsius. You should drink it out of a
Cognac
or wide red wine glass and allow the taste to develop in the glass before, and in your mouth after drinking.
